Different road conditions

Usually we get snow and ice and slush and quite a bit in between, poor visibility in blizzards and heavy fog.

We headed East for a family visit and had a bunch of water and hail on the road just after we crossed the Nebraska state line

Then later in the day it was breezy and picking up dust from newly tilled fields. For a short distance visibility was only a couple of feet through the dust cloud. We made it without incident but I'll keep my snow, thanks.

Funny Bunnies

The barn bunnies all came outside in a little herd today

They have been busy increasing their numbers

These two were having a territorial dispute

Baby bunny was watching from a safe distance

But it was still a little too much action

dawg collar

It was a little past time to make Sawg Dawg a new collar so I put this together for her.

I stamped a phone number on the collar since tags sometimes fall off.

Green

Everything is nice and green with the rain lately. The temperature can't decide whether to be warm or cool or both.

The cool, wet weather makes the horses frisky

No churn ice cream

I saw a recipe in the latest issue of Martha Stewart everyday food and decided to try it out. This is pretty tasty:

No Churn ice cream (1.5 quarts)

14oz sweetened condensed milk
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp Bourbon (optional)
2 cups cold heavy cream

Beat cream until stiff peaks form. In a separate bowl, mix together the condensed milk, vanilla and bourbon and then fold mixture into the whipped cream. Pour mixture into a container and freeze until firm. Leave covered in freezer for up to a week, if it lasts that long.

More company coming to visit tomorrow too

funny things

How did the baby wriggle out of her diaper?
How did the toddler get both feet stuck on a glue trap?
And why is my spotted mule carrying a whole bale of hay around with his mouth?

Things change quick

The snow melted and we're green again

The tail end of this thundercloud dropped some hail

After a little thunder and lightning it passed

Last snow?

The weather report said no accumulation

how about 4"- 6"+

It is good to know where the road is

snow falling from the trees

Heading to town

signs of civilization

I like this old dead tree

Steamboat and Tug rock

Livermore mountain in the fog

What a difference a couple thousand feet in elevation makes

Back home later in the day

Let it rain

It is nice to finally get some rain without snow. Rain possible in the forecast all week and the grass is green and happy :)

On the road again

We said goodbye to grandma and grandpa this morning in the freezing fog.

Then we had a nice quiet family day at home which doesn't happen very often.
