Winter Feeding

Depending on the weather, feeding the critters can sometimes be a challenge. Usually our snow isn't very deep, or isn't deep for very long, so we can use the truck or a hay cart for smaller bales.

If the snow is a little too deep, it is nice to have a sled (larger than this one pictured below ) to drag bales around.

Without a big tractor, moving big bales around can be interesting. It is possible with a little leverage and a plan to get them moved with relatively little trouble.

It is nice to have big bales set out before the weather gets really bad. It isn't always possible to tell how bad the weather will turn in advance of a storm rolling in but we try to be prepared.
